Not all Christian love songs are good for your Big Day

Here’s a few tips on choosing your songs.

Selecting songs for the Big Day is I think the second hardest part in the preparations. That is of course if you want your wedding songs to also reflect  your personality, beliefs and principles as a couple.

Since we both believe in God, as our Creator and Author of our love story, we did a thorough research of most of the popular Christian songs circulated over the web. We were very meticulous with the details that we even had to check on the lyrics carefully.

We had two main criteria in choosing a song to be included in our list:

1. It should glorify God more than the significant other. Songs that contain
messages as You are the ONLY reason for my being, You (referring to the
significant other), You are the source of my strength, I live only for you, I’m
crazy for you, You gave me the reason to live, etc., were automatically
scrapped off. These are words that should only speak of God as THE source of everything.

2. It should be positive and declares better future for the couple. We avoid
songs which contain messages such as Remind me who I am when I fall down, I  will hold on to you when things get rough, etc. Sure, there’s nothing wrong about them, but why not declare that everything will get better when you are together and with God in the center of your marriage?
